Most nations are 'artificial' in their size, borders, groups within - due to a host of factors, but primarily empire, war, outsiders, happenstance, oligarchy of one kind or another. That said, this is a real mess now.....with things rapidly spinning out of control. Russia is, it seems, provoking some of this - as is the 'West' via NATO - and no doubt intelligence [sic] agencies and provocateurs on both sides. It seems a proxy war, one of the first, in the New Cold War....gee - aren't we lucky to live in such 'interesting times'
