Yes, but there are baristas and coffee everywhere in that cafe. He'll be buzzing for weeks to come and unable to sleep. If he does get sleepy enough there is a chance the hostages could try to do something but they'll be tired and emotional too plus there is some speculation apart from being armed with a weapon he has explosives. None of us know who the hostages are anyway. Could be all frail dowager ladies not up for a physical struggle. The top floor has been evacuated so they could use gas like they did in Moscow. Hopefully with better results.
