I don't trust New York politics. This could be a move to take the heat off elsewhere while the price of oil dropping has made it possible.
As soon as push comes to shove they'll be right back to cracking the Earth's bedrock, which is crazy if you think about it. They are messing with Earth in a serious way with consequences they have no idea of.
It should be called "Cracking" instead of "Fracking" because it is the equivalent of crack as far as oil addiction.
