RKL, do you see any deep politics involved in CC's death? So far, I just see an unknown motive on the part of the SPD to make it a suicide? Or am I missing something?

See Anthony's post above. I'm not sure what the deeper motivations were for killing him but there are certainly a lot of very interesting and deep connections apparent when you start to study the principle actors. So to speak.
