I received Ms. Fiester's book, Enemy of the Truth, Myths, Forensics, and the Kennedy Assassination yesterday afternoon.
On the related subjects of distinguishing Back Spatter from Forward Spatter, President Kennedy's measurable forward motion immediately prior to his violent movement back (and to the left), a proposed 35 degree Trajectory Cone and corresponding Trajectory Analysis which establish mathematically which areas must be excluded (according to the author) as possible sniper locations, I find all of her explanations to be plausible and perhaps even persuasive.
I believe this is news. Academically trained forensic professionals in Neurological Science, Wound Ballistics and Crime Scene Investigation possess basic knowledge and understanding that may seem counter-intuitive to those of us who are not trained in those emerging disciplines. Educated professionals understand a lot more than we do. But, it is appropriate and necessary, in this as it is in all other areas of our lives, from dentistry to auto mechanics, to consider the possibility that most of us don't know more than they do. Nor even as much.
Excerpt:
Head Wound Characteristics
Over the past 10 years, gunshot wounds to the head have dramatically increased in number... Consequently, forensic research focusing on the mechanics of gunshot wounds to the head has become more prevalent. Research has provided major advances in understanding bone beveling and fracturing sequencing to determine projectile trajectory. The mechanics of blood spatter has been more completely determined as has cavitation and its role in target movement. President Kennedy's head as visualized in the Zapruder film, displays movement into the direction of force followed by movement in the continuing direction of of the force. This dual movement is addressed in several studies, all of which include that dynamic as a part of the characteristic of gunshot wounds to the head (AANS - American Association of Neurological Surgeons, 2011. Gunshot Wound Head Trauma) End of Excerpt
At a minimum I am convinced that Ms. Feister's work deserves to be examined and considered with an open mind.
I'm hopeful that there will be much discussion of these issues...
especially among all who are interested and willing to read the book.
