I'm with you on this, Jan, and I've been on the doppelganger gambit in intel ops for too many years.
I've often used the term "cognitive dissonance" to describe the impact on observers -- hostile, friendly, and neutral -- of multiple identity provocations. The JFK assassination case stands out, but there are many others.
