Woody Harrelson's father was a convicted murderer. He killed a federal judge. While he was being arrested for that offense he claimed to have killed Kennedy. After he was safely in prison, he recanted his story, and told interviewers that he said whatever was necessary to ensure his survival during the arrest process.
There is a fair amount of conflict about whether Harrelson is the "tall tramp." Researchers who believe that also believe the other "tramps" were Chauncey Holt and Frank Sturgis(?) Holt actually "confessed." Woody thinks it was his father. Other researchers have tracked down all of the "tramps" and spoken directly to them or their family members and confirmed their identities. Dallas PD recently discovered fingerprint cards which seem to confirm their stated identities. So don't pick a fight on this topic unless you are well armed and armoured...
