Very interesting. A friend of mine has done years of research into forced adoptions here and in other countries. And they are almost always forced and poverty is not a choice. There are very few real orphans in this world. The psychological damage is huge. And more often than not the adopted child feels a great obiligation to the adoptive parents based on great fear of losing them too. They have already lost once before. Or been 'rejected' once before. Even if the adoptive parents are abusive/cold/incompetent it will be forgiven for fear of having nothing. He may have no conscious memory but part of him remembers the first psychic split from his mother. And he is still beholden. Remember Harlow's maternal deprived monkeys?
