Is this our future?

Dawn Meredith Wrote:"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a
permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until
the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts
from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for
the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with
the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal
policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

I think current democracy has been greatly modified since TYler penned those words. Today elected politicians loot the treasury on behalf of their friends, business associates, and the wealthy who funded their campaigns in exchange for unlimited largesse once they were in office. Voters no longer count to any great extent. All is charade.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
