What are you saying? Please,do not call those who have fought and died idiots! These people could have been your father, uncle,or good friends. And,If that was the case,I would guarranty, you would not be calling them idiots, you would be laying flowers at their grave today.....

Peace Out..
Sorry that is not a nice word and of course I have sympathy for them. My father was in World War two for MANY years and it destroyed his life. I have represented many former Viet Nam vets, all were a mess. Homeless drugged out and suffering from severe PTSD.
I am sorry but I have strong feelings against war and have had these views all my life. I have a hard time understanding how they convince people to go fight wars that are never about what the boys are told.
Anyone remember the folk singer Michael Clooney (I think that was his name, about 1968) who did a great anti war song about the bankers and business men going into the army.

Yes Pease. What a concept.

Yes, Dawn, what a concept. During the Vietnam era when men, not women, were being drafted, many suggested that those who profitted from the war and their offspring should be the first to go to fight the war, as your singer did.. That would take care of the one-percenters who make money from war.

May I suggest that we all look at the forces and elements which cause wars, and not slam the poor folks who are forced to fight them by law, or who now volunteer to fight them, women included. Some have volunteered because they have a young family to support and cannot find a decent job. Some do it because of personal family history of fighting ancestors, and some for other patriotic or irrational reasons. For whatever reasons, they risk life, limb, brain, and eyesight to do this. My ex-husband had been drafted at age 19 and was sent to Germany where he saw the dead and the walking dead of the concentration camps. It had an effect on him.

Today the suicide rate of soldiers is very high, much higher than usual, if there is a 'usual'. They can't run to Canada, or elsewhere. They don't have to even go to the battlefield, but will they counted as war casualties? These young aand healthy people of our country are not the enemy. We all know who the real enemy of our people are. The real enemy are not the innocent civilians of a foreign land who are trying to exist and survive under a rain of bombs from unmannwed, sophisicated machines.

Human beings are about to destroy themselves, for the selfish purposes of the rich bankers, industrialists, fascists of a warrior culture.

I sometimes wonder what would happen if every working person in the entire world (those who make things and provide services for others), were to not come to work for a week, or two,. What effect would that have on the economies of Wall Street, London, Beiging , Delhi, Moscow, Cairo, Tel Aviv, Johannesburg, and et cetera and et cetera, everywhere. The earth stands still. I think this will never happen, but if it did, those with wealth and power, who own the world, and want more resources and whatever, will not be able to make their factories produce, or do anything. They do not have the knowledge, nor the robots to push the economy forward, answer their phones, type on their computers, print their money, and I could go on and on. Would they now respect the workers of the world and see how dependent they are on them. Would they want to kill more people for their ugly gains? Maybe Yes. Maybe Not.

But everyone would get a vacation for a couple of weeks!
