John is a great guy and I was so proud that he asked me to present for him his new evidence on Tippit etc., at COPA on the 50th anniversary.
So there are the ego maniacs, the agents, and those who just dislike others. All very sad because this is a small group of world citizens who should be united in one goal. The truth. And getting it out to the public, so that then they can begin connecting the dots to how it is all connected to TODAY. How we got here.

Its not that Simkin did not allow the lone nut trolls. He did to an extreme degree e.g. DVP, and Reitzes and Carlier were all there at one time.
What they contributed utterly escapes me. I thought they were a complete waste.
It was the purges that really cut into the quality of the work there. And then when he would ban someone he would eliminate their posts, no matter how good they were.
Retzes got banned for just asking about this policy. Jim:You have got to be proud that the wonderful RCD quit because of what got done to you. Can't get a better compliment than that.

Of course. And thanks for posting the link. John told me that Walt Brown's mag is online now and that someone wrote that John's essay which I presented was identical to very one he had presented in 95. John said he called Walt and asked him about this and Walt said he would look into it and get back to him. I tried to find it online but had no luck. I just have his final paper one where he said goodbye and was selling all his JFK books. Anyone seen this?

Yes Dawn, that was great that RC Dunne decided to split over the banning of me and Scully. And he was eloquent about it. And he warned Simkin in advance that he would leave.
But it was not just him. It was Martin Hay and Dwayne Dunn also.
They also spoke up strongly. In fact, I personally congratulated Dwayne on one of the best posts I ever read there over this issue.
He was saying the elimination of posts afterwards was unethical. Because people joined up not thinking it was Simkin's private preserve. But more like a bank or Savings and Loan that they had invested in, and the investment would always be there.
Well, it was not. That was a broken trust.

I've already downloaded the contents just before he closed it last time and would highly recommend any one interested in the content do so while it is still on line. I hope JS keeps it on line for future reference but he may not want to pay the cost of that or to have that maintenance to do. Not sure if he is just closing the JFK section or the whole of the forum.

I think Pat Speer is one of the best posters Simkin ever had. And, just as important, he comes off as a damn good human being. Even if I don't always agree with the guy, he brings quite a lot of data per post and pretty compelling arguments. His strange position in the research community only enhances his credibility in my book - I can't fathom how you have to have the same interpretation over reams of complicated data to be considered an equal in the critical community. Although, other than ignorance and emotional problems, I can't fathom how you could be a Lone Nutter, either.

He has become such a good friend. We can talk for hours. About personal issues as well as this case. I got some very upsetting news yesterday after court and he was "there" for me. This am before I begin work I am going to begin to re-read Harvey and Lee, take notes and FINISH it this time. Something about Watergate came up in our conv. yesterday and I gave my reason for what happened to Tricky Dick and JA again reminded me that I had not finished his book, where he presents his reasons as to what happened to the Prez. . Then he hit me with a zinger. Asked if I had read Best Evidence in its entirely. I said yest in 82 in law school. He replied that I then must think more highly of David Lifton than I do him. So today I re- begin H & L, take notes and finish it this time.
