Hi David,
General appearance very similar. Hairline and style is a match. The cheekbones look identical. Is he wearing the same suit jacket? My first impression is they are the same guy. Now what is Shelley doing there with Oswald? Nice find.

Yes, the resemblance is pretty remarkable.

Mr. SHELLEY - I worked in defense plants a little bit during the war and started working at the Texas School Book Depository October 29, 1945. Mr. BALL - (After leaving room for last answer, Mr. Ball returns.) Did you tell her all about yourself? Mr. SHELLEY - You wanted to know when I was born. Mr. BALL - You told us that, and you had your high school education? Mr. SHELLEY - Yes. Mr. BALL - What kind of work have you done since then? Mr. SHELLEY - I've told her. Mr. BALL - How long have you worked at Texas School Book Depository? Mr. SHELLEY - She already has it, October 29, 1945. Mr. BALL - October 29, 1945---steady since that date? Mr. SHELLEY - Oh, yes. Mr. BALL - In November 1963, what was your job down there? Mr. SHELLEY - Well, I am manager of the miscellaneous department and have been for several years. Yep, every company has a miscellaneous department. Unlike other witnesses, who were asked for detailed accounts of their backgrounds, the WC seems to have taken down most of Shelley's personal information off the record while Ball was out of the room. They both have ties on and pompadors, but the image you are using from New Orleans is far from clear, with shadows on two thirds of the face and the hand obscuring it, whereas the Dallas shot is straight on and leaves no ambiguities.

Do we have an original transcript with edits? Certainly seems to be a disconnect in his answer about employment history. Also, Ball leaving the rom during the answer? (Amazing that he could scoot out of the room during a single sentence. Must have been a small room.) Why leave? Could it be so that he could later plausibly say that he didn't hear the witness utter perjury?

We've all been looking at that image for a long time...
I'd love to hear from Jim D or Joan M as to whether or not Garrison made any connections to Shelley... and Shelley to the Shaw/Bannister/Ferrie/Oswald group that summer... Has it ever been suggested that this person is someone else? Sometimes you get shown the light in the strangest of places.... DJ
