Looking back, I remember when I use to own my own company, I always believed in ethics of never robbing another company of their employees. capitalism is a God given right to live competitively, however, is there no more moral standards that ones conscientious prevents them from doing what is right?
WTH am I talking about? Well, for starters, for those who know me know I'm a very direct person, yep, that's right! There's no beating around the bush with me on this one.
It saddens me to read that the Education Forum may be shutting down permanently when so many have benefited from it. Recently, some great suggestions have been made to Mr. John Simkin, and I believe he should carefully consider them.
But, to play the game of other forums are also available rather than the one many wish to keep is like testing the waters.
IMHO, I believe that Mr. Simkin should not be playing that game of introducing or "plugging in" other forums as an alternative, but why? Well, for starters other new forums will not contain the database an establish forum would have. Is it really that easy to throw away that old shirt, or that recliner we get use to over the years? So, we seek out other means just to satisfy our thoughts, meaning, we use other forums as an scapegoat. Well, if you ask me, I think that's just a cop out!
Also, for the owner of the other forum to act out in a boastful way only suggests he knows not what it means to be humble, and that's a forum I'd never join, but that's just my opinion, and the way I feel about it.
When I read things like this, it really makes me want to puke as if he was soliciting his forum for some popularity contest, and for those who do register are not always allowed to join. If you ask me, that's no different then the MSM screening only news worthy elements that best fits there needs.
Not everyone can get in on a real debate discussing real topics, and so, it's only those who all agree on the same topics or debates are allowed to post(s), which to me provides no real validity to the forum. I also call that ass-kissing.
In closing, I would never join a forum that discriminates against others, they would never get information out of me that's for sure. I'm pretty sure if they wanted to know what I know, they'd have to go trolling to the forums I do post at, and of coarse they themselves hate trolls yet they turn a blind eye!
I'm Scott Kaiser, and this is my two cents that's not worth two cents.
