"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

What a fabulous rendition of a great classic. Truly well found Magda.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

Thanks - Really enjoyed that.

Here's another song/video combination - Rufus Wainwright singing (with apologies for the rough visual quality). It's hardly the same genre but I was reminded of it. I originally linked to a YouTube version of it until it was blocked with an "alleged 3rd party copyright infringement" message. I then uploaded it to Google video and, after a couple of weeks it was blocked again. I've now uploaded it to 'Daily Motion' and wonder how long it will last there.

Google won't say where the complaint originates but I suspect Fox News since some of their footage is included. I don't think it's Rufus Wainwright himself because he's pretty pissed off with the US himself and has emigrated. Also, the same song with a different video accompaniment is on YouTube as are many of his other songs.

It sums up how America is now viewed by much of its Empire. A Haunting song with haunting visuals. Believe it or not I was originally pointed at it by Layla Anwar's 'Arab Woman Blues' blog from Bagdad
Peter Presland

Guido Preparata. Preface to 'Conjuring Hitler'[size=12][size=12]
"Never believe anything until it has been officially denied"

Oh Maggie, this is glorious. Thank you! You made my day. Hell, you made my week. I'm almost sorry to say--you made my month; but it's true.

God it's wonderful, and awful of course, Peter. Thank you for sharing it. And please please keep it posted somewhere even if you have to keep uploading it (easy for me to say, eh? :o).

This is a proper national anthem. The other one isn't.

Here's an article about the song from the great Salon:

I'm searching for the lyrics. Stay tuned.

Thank you soooo much for this. It has made my day!
Beautiful. And it has one of my favorites, Manu Chau but all the others are just as fantastic. Ahhhhhhhh..........

It's a great song. For me Mermans Kenkosenki stood out, but they're all fabulous, and the blending works so well too.
