Ted Cruz, presidential hopeful, was born in Calgary, Canada. He apparently "renounced" his Canadian citizenship in 2014. The U.S. Constitution says a President must be a natural born citizen.
You gotta wonder if the same "Birthers" that complained bitterly about Obama's birth certificate (which at least everyone agreed was from the U.S. state of Hawaii) are going to be making the same point here, or if its just going to be a new (ahem) generation of "Birthers".

Apparently his mother is a US citizen and so that gave him dual citizenship. When I became a US citizen in 1977 I was not able to keep my Canadian citizenship. So I guess the rules are always changing.

You might be able to get it back Dawn. Have you checked it out recently?

You can get it back. Carol was born in Canada and we ensured all our kids had dual citizenship... and passports if they ever needed them.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

I understand dual citizenship. But to assume the office of President of the United States, you must be a "natural born" American (presumably to keep all the sneaky Tory carpet-baggers out of the White House). This was exactly the argument of the Birthers. I would guess that someone born here to non-citizen parents could assume the office. I would not make the same guess about a child of 2 US citizen parents born out of the country.
I note that we have had at least one President born outside of the US (Grover Cleveland IIRC, and look how that turned out).

I thought there were the same problems with McCain's run for presidency. He was born in Panama but his parents were US citizens unlike Cruz.
