Reporter - Did he fire a gun chief, but NOT the rifle or the pistol.

Chief - yeah, that's right.

Scott Kaiser - How stupid do you think I am chief?

Chief - You're smarter then the average bear Scott!

Thanks chief.

Well, Sirhan and Ray were convicted. Sirhan did fire a gun but could not have killed RFK. Ray confessed and then pleaded out but he didn't kill MLK. Oswald could not have been convicted in a fair trial in a neutral venue but this was Dallas, TX ca. 1963, there was a dead cop and, as it turned out, lots of innocent guys were convicted by Henry Wade in that era. Its hard to imagine where in the US Oswald could have received a fair trial given the nationwide press coverage that was wholly uncritical of the government case. Could Oswald even have found a lawyer to represent him who would believe he was framed by CIA operatives? With the deck stacked against him by the DPD, FBI, CIA and LBJ Oswald, fairly or not, was going down.

If you've read Curry's book, it's interesting to see how he backtracked on Oswald's guilt quite a bit.

Sure he did - once Oswald was gone, the Warren Report was out, LBJ was out of office and enough time had passed so that there wasn't any heat on him.
