Hello I am new
#1
Hello I am new to politics and I live in Sweden. I've always tried to stay away from politics because it seemed so overwhelmingly complex, but a year from now there is going to be another election in Sweden so I feel like I have an obligation to understand what is going on.

I don't really know where to even get started but I felt like this website was a good start.

Welcome, but if you haven't already noticed this Forum is focused on DEEP Politics as opposed to 'normative' 'politics' [which you can read about in the mainstream media and government propaganda, etc.]

Well, dive right in and perhaps start by exploring issues you are most interested in or affected by. Some ideas off the top of my head:
- Who assassinated Palme and Lindh - and why [you'll find some clues on this website - use an external search engine rather than the internal one which is not great]. Short answer: not any of the patsies the government has offered up! https://redice.tv/red-ice-radio/coup-d-e...olof-palme
- Was Sverige really neutral during WWII, or more on the side of the Axis? [IMO, the rich and powerful in Sverige were!]
- Just how much is Sverige involved in NATO, Gladio [you might want to find out what that is], sharing intelligence with the US and 'five eyes'?
- What is the back-story with the Assange legal events? Was the second prosecutor working for/with the CIA? What do most Swedes feel about this case now?
- Why did 911 change everything, everywhere?
- Why are the rich getting richer and the poor poorer almost everywhere?
- Why was Raoul Wallenberg killed, apparently in Russian custody?
- Did the CIA target Dag Hammarskjold for death by sabotaged airplane?
- What do the intelligence and military entities in Sverige know about the above, but NOT tell the Swedish public?

Or feel free to comment on the range of feelings in Sweden about the large number of immigrants admitted there, etc.

....and such. If you need some pointers, let me or 'us' know. I have lived in Sverige in the past, so have some background on some of the questions I mentioned.
"Let me issue and control a nation's money and I care not who writes the laws. - Mayer Rothschild
"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience! People are obedient in the face of poverty, starvation, stupidity, war, and cruelty. Our problem is that grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem!" - Howard Zinn
"If there is no struggle there is no progress. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and never will" - Frederick Douglass

Thanks a lot for this list I will definitely check those out one by one!

As for "normative" politics, I've never bothered to take it seriously due to whatever is being presented on the mainstream always seems so shallow and repetitive. I guess I yearn for something that actually explains the technicalities behind some of the major decisions that have been made during the last decade. Instead of "because they are stupid/racist/left/right/-phobic/PC/etc"

Welcome to the forum Daniel. Peter has posted some great links there for you to go through. Hope you find them interesting. 'Normative' politics is usually not much more than a dog and pony show. The real action and history happens elsewhere with others.
"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.
