Shenon and Sabato are playing a neat little game that they think no one is on to.
They are wrong. These two poseurs are really bad and they should be called out by our side.
They don't, as I show here, give a damn about what is in those files. They want everything out there, so they can ignore it and say, see Oswald still did it.
The modified, (very) limited hangout lives!
Without even addressing the documents issue the idea that Shenon and Sabato are pushing - that Oswald was inspired to kill Kennedy by the Castro assassination plots is pretty loopy. First off all, Castro was not killed! In fact, according to everything I read, most of the "plots" never actually led to actual attempts on Castro's life. Second, if an assassin is so inspired he doesn't make his attempt surreptitiously, try to evade capture and when captured fail to assert his "triumph" (you know, the Sic Semper Tyrannis thing) and he sure doesn't angrily announce that he's a patsy!
Then you have the issue of Oswald's association with the anti-communist, anti-Castro elements in both Dallas and New Orleans which is really hard to fit into the story of a guy motivated to kill the US president because of US government attempts on Castro's life that he got from a newspaper story. I am not familiar with the news article that supposedly inspired Oswald but how detailed could it have been? As I recall the story of the Castro assassination plots was still kind of top secret and caused a major public stir when revealed during the Church Committee hearings. The Politico article merely states that in the article Castro issued a warning against US plots directed at Cuban leaders. It does not say that the article contained actual proof of any such plots. Its hard to see anyone working up an appetite for undertaking an assassination attempt against a US president (a sure suicide mission unless the fix is in) based on that. Sabato/Shenon are also relying heavily on the Oswald in MC story which we all know has serious problems without even getting into Shenon's bizarre twist party story - Castro agents discussed assassinating Kennedy with Oswald at a twist party? Really? That seems a bit careless (to put it lightly) for supposedly competent intelligence officers and the magnitude of what they were supposedly suggesting.
I guess the MSM will grasp at any reeds they can to preserve the fiction of Krazy Kid (Castroite) Oswald getting lucky with an ancient, decrepit rifle and the necessity of a "benign" coverup that needed to last more than half a century. In their view anything must be better than the truth. But the reeds are getting thinner and scarcer. If this is all they've got its hard to see why anything other than a simple refusal to consider the evidence can explain their stance.
As an aside - Jim, do you know if the portion of the Lopez report that examined the possibility of Oswald being a CIA asset will finally be declassified?
