NARA have released a third batch, including many CIA documents, as part of a series of 'rolling releases', so more are meant to be forthcoming. 676 records have been posted in total. 533 CIA documents never before released in any form are included.

Quote:Last week, President Donald J. Trump ordered all remaining records governed by section 5 of the JFK Act be released to the public. The President also directed agencies to complete another review of their proposed redactions and only redact information in the rarest of circumstances. The release by the National Archives today represents the first in a series of rolling releases pursuant to the President's memorandum based on prior reviews done by agencies. The records included in this public release have not been reviewed by NARA.
The National Archives anticipates several additional public releases making all remaining records governed by section 5 available to the public as expeditiously as possible in accordance with the President's order. Each of these approximately 29,000 records, along with each of the records released today, remain subject to further review under that process.
The majority of the public release today consists of 553 Central Intelligence Agency (CIA) records that were previously denied in their entirety. Also included in the release are records from components of the Departments of Justice (18) and Defense (48), the House Select Committee on Assassinations (56), and the National Archives (1).

8 entire pages are redacted - and recently redacted too. Pages 3 to 10 have newly inserted fields of white removing all text. I thought they were just going to remove names and addresses of agents still living.

E. Howard Hunt. This is vaguely more encouraging. Most of the text is here, and they haven't gone for pages of redactions. First doc has one small redaction, second and third have names and some cryptonyms whited out here and there, but most of the document is intact.

Scrolling through other docs, it's a mixed bag. Some have substantial sections intact. Others page pages upon pages of recently whited out redactions. It'd be hilarious to know what name and address of an agent still living caused several pages of the Garrison document above to get wiped out. Did someone just type they guy's name over and over again like Jack Nicholson in THE SHINING?
I won't link the, just notes as I'm browsing. Document on June Cobb has 20+ pages whited out. Two documents on David Atlee Phillips have whole sections whited out. Eunice Odio, whited out. Mitch Werbell docs, better than anticipated, but redactions here and there.
Peter Dale Scott's oft-quoted negative template comes into play here, as you get an in-your-face glimpse of precisely which subjects and topics still cause the CIA grief.
As you'd expect, the David Morales personnel file has lots of redactions.

First interesting document I've found so far, out of a sea of depressing redactions. CIA report that provides their own commentary on book V of the Church Committee, investigating performance of intelligence agencies.

I'm guessing that when we get to the William Harvey documentation, or the Angleton HSCA stuff, you can print them out and use them as fresh blank drawing paper for your kids artwork.

Observation. The 'rolling release' schedule gives researchers and others close to zero time to get the word out that these redactions should not be taking place. By the time the 6 months is up, they're all out, with pages whited out where necessary.
Guys like John Newman will be able to scrape off tidbits from these here and there, but it's apparent a lot of troublesome stuff has been scrubbed out. For the moment, the latest releases finish on page 14 of the NARA document listing.

my (optimistic?) reading of that verbiage is "stuff you're seeing released with redactions right now is subject to further rounds of removing redations in the future."
