NSA Q Group employs more Soviet-style security measures

(WMR) -- WMR’s National Security Agency (NSA) sources report that the agency’s Q Group personnel security department, acting in concert with the dubious NSA medical unit, has adopted a new approach to dealing with NSA employees who express opposition to illegal surveillance policies and draconian internal security procedures.
On August 23, 2005, WMR reported, “In the spirit of the Soviet ‘psikhushka’ psychiatric hospitals where anti-regime dissidents were sent, NSA is using psychologists to eliminate independent-minded intelligence analysts and other career employees. Adverse psychiatric evaluations of experienced NSA professionals are being used by the neocons controlling the agency to gut America’s signals intelligence and information security capabilities.”
NSA Security, headed up by Kemp Ensor III, and NSA medical worked in tandem to deny security access to classified information at NSA to employees determined to be mentally unfit.
However, due to the attrition of highly qualified personnel, the security-medical duo is now prescribing Prozac and Zoloft for NSA employees who refuse to fall into line. NSA is abuzz with the new requirement for employees to take what they call “happy pills.”
The sexual harassment scene has also reportedly changed at Fort Meade. In the past, sexual harassment at NSA involved older male managers preying on young female employees. That has now changed in what has become an environment of “do ask and do tell.” WMR has been informed that there is an increase in complaints about sexual harassment from new young male hires about being forced into “kinky rendezvous” with older male managers.

I can attest that this has been going on quite a while. During Iran-Contra I had an information table on IC and general black ops/secret government set-up on the Venice, CA boardwalk [Los Angeles]. One day a man came by and read much of my literature, then nervously started to talk to me. He remained many hours and finally confided he was a former NSA employee - who had worked on Eschelon-type electronic surveillance - computer monitoring - fairly low level stuff. He offered nothing else, but said he was willing to answer yes or no to anything I might state. I then proceeded to tell what I knew and he nodded yes or no.
Then I asked him a real pointed question and he said he couldn't answer and was, in fact, being punished for having tried to blow the whistle on some of the things we were talking about. He explained his punishment was being committed to a local military hospital, mental ward - and focreably given antipsychotic drugs and drugs that he said clouded his mentation. This was the one day a month he was allowed out. He confirmed my worst fears about phone surveillance and this was more than 15 years ago! Asked if I could get a contact for him and follow-up or help him get out of the hospital, he was afraid and declined. He said he'd come back next day out...but did only one more time. I guess they had followed him and cut off his day offs..but will never know....

Let's clarify the meaning of psikhushka.

In the Soviet Union, psychiatry was used for punitive purposes. Psychiatric hospitals were often used by the authorities as prisons in order to isolate political prisoners from the rest of society, discredit their ideas, and break them physically and mentally; as such they were considered a form of torture.[1]

Psikhushka (Russian: психушка) is a Russian colloquialism for psychiatric hospital. It has been occasionally used in English since the dissident movement in the Soviet Union became known in the West.

History
Psikhushkas had been already used since the end of the 1940s (see Alexander Esenin-Volpin) and during the Khrushchev Thaw period in the 1960s. One of the first psikhushkas was the Psychiatric Prison Hospital in the city of Kazan. It was transferred to NKVD control in 1939 under the order of Lavrentiy Beria. [2] On April 29, 1969 the head of KGB, Yuri Andropov, submitted to the Central Committee of CPSU a plan for creating a network of psikhushkas.[3]

The official Soviet psychiatry allegedly abused the diagnosis of sluggishly progressing schizophrenia (вялотекущая шизофрения), a special form of the illness that supposedly affects only the person's social behavior, with no trace of other traits: "most frequently, ideas about a struggle for truth and justice are formed by personalities with a paranoid structure," according to the Moscow Serbsky Institute professors (a quote [4] from Vladimir Bukovsky's archives). Some of them had high rank in the MVD, such as the infamous Danil Luntz, who was characterized by Viktor Nekipelov as "no better than the criminal doctors who performed inhuman experiments on the prisoners in Nazi concentration camps" [4].

The sane individuals who were diagnosed as mentally ill were sent either to regular psychiatric hospitals or, those deemed particularly dangerous, to special ones, run directly by the MVD. The treatment included various forms of restraint, electric shocks, electromagnetic torture, radiation torture, entrapment, servitude, a range of drugs (such as narcotics, tranquilizers, and insulin) that cause long lasting side effects, and sometimes involved beatings. Nekipelov describes inhuman uses of medical procedures such as lumbar punctures.

At least 365 sane people were treated for "politically defined madness" in the Soviet Union, and there were surely hundreds more [4].
