Did Weitzman lie to the WC about misidentifying the scope ?
#1
In his Warren Commission testimony, Seymour Weitzman said that he
really didn't get a good look at the rifle and scope and only glanced
at it.

With respect to the scope he testifed:

Mr. WEITZMAN. And at the time I looked at it, I believe I said it was
2.5 scope on it and I believe I said it was a Weaver but it wasn't; it
turned out to be anything but a Weaver, but that was at a glance.

Mr. BALL. Was it of Japanese manufacture?

Mr. WEITZMAN. I believe it was a 2.5 Weaver at the time I looked at
it. I didn't look that close at it; it just looked like a 2.5 but it
turned out to be a Japanese scope, I believe.

It would seem to me that if Weitzman's identification of the rifle and
scope was an honest error, then the documents would support that.

But in his police report, he made no mention of the scope as being 2.5
power. In addition, he made no mention of it being a Weaver.

Instead he described it as a 4 power scope.

If he really believed that the scope was a "2.5 Weaver at the time I
looked at it", then why did he not say so in his report ?

And why did he say instead that the scope was a 4.0 ?
