Medicating the military
#11
Tomorrow I have an appointment at my local VA clinic. So far I have had basically no response to my chronic pain, except to offer me spinal injections.I refuse to go down that route. These injections work for a limited amount of time, and then another injection is required. After enough injections, they eventually put you on the morphine regiment.

Another BIG problem is that the new pain projects like what Ed referenced are conducted at the VA hospitals. The Portland VA hospital is a 400 mile round trip.I can't do that trip without being in god awful pain,a catch 22.

I would love to try the acupunture and like treatments, but they are not available to me as I have asked.Anyways,I will see where my inquiries go this time.

Sorry that you are in so much pain Keith. Back pain in particular is just the worst. I hope you get something that works for you soon. Have you tried osteopathy or hypnosis? Osteopathy can help quite well in some cases but I don't know your particulars so it may not be useful. Hypnotherapy does nothing for the cause but can work very well on stopping the receptors.
"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

Magda,
I like to speak open and freely, but I am feeling resistance on this topic.I will say briefly that my problems are multiple. It's not just my back.I was very seriously wounded, and other problems arise as I get older.

There is one thing for sure.I will never let anyone touch my mind.Hypnosis is not in the equation for me.If need be I will just do what I've been doing for the last 40 years, just put up with the pain mentally, and smoke my medicine to help relax. In reality,I'm just so very thankful to still be alive...........
