US Keeps Meddling in Nicaragua Affairs

Managua: The US constantly interferes in Nicaragua's internal affairs through its ambassador here, Sandinista political circles denounced on Thursday in the capital.

Such were the statements made by sources interviewed by Prensa Latina after Nicaraguan Ambassador Denis Moncada's denunciation on Wednesday in the Organization of American States (OAS), when he directly alluded to Washington's representative to this capital, Robert Callahan.

The Nicaraguan diplomat accused Callahan of meddling in Nicaraguan internal affairs, and said the latest example occurred this week, when he refused to attend a meeting to open a highway section built in the Leon department with funds from the Millennium Challenge Account (MCA), sponsored by Washington.

On several occasions, the US diplomat has publicly supported attempts by Nicaraguan opposition parties, rating as fraudulent the 2008 municipal elections, when the Sandinista National Liberation Front won the majority of the country's mayoralties.

In addition, he made continuation of the MCA conditional....

USA Seeks to Destabilize Nicaragua
Raquel Maria Garcia Alvarez

Managua: Nicaragua is under a destabilizing strategy similar to that aimed at other member countries of the Bolivarian Alliance for the Peoples of Our America (ALBA), said an article published in Managua on Monday.

In a column entitled "The United States and its Tangle of NGOs in Nicaragua," an Uruguayan journalist based in Sweden, Jorge Capelan, explains that the destabilizing strategy the United States has pursued in Venezuela through non-governmental organizations and "contractor" firms is also being applied in Nicaragua against the Sandinista government.

Published here by La Primerisima radio website, the article recalls that since 1994, the United States Agency for International Development (USAID) started to install the so-called Offices of Transition Initiatives (OTI) in several countries worldwide.

They were originally created to support transition to capitalism in East European countries, but they later spread to other states where it was necessary to address situations in which US interests were threatened, said the article.

It added that in Venezuela, OTIs were created in July 2002, a little after the failed coup against President Hugo Chavez, and in Bolivia it was installed in late 2005 to try to prevent Evo Morales from coming to power.

According to Capelan's article, under USAID orders, these OTIs have established networks in countries where they operate with political parties, the media and non-governmental organizations which they provide with funds and training to implement policies serving US interests.

There is no OTI in Nicaragua, but the USAID develops a similar strategy against the Sandinista government through the CampTransparencia program run by paramilitary DynCorp firm.

CampTransparencia has organized forums and other similar activities in Nicaragua. Its main cadres have experience in "regime change" operations.

There is no excuse to act all innocent with the money the "civil society" gets from the United States, as it is all part of a destabilizing political-military plan to dominate the country, Capelan said in his article.

The Offices of Transition Initiatives, eh? :bootyshake:

What a wonderfully military-intelligence-multinational-complex phrase.

Begging the question: "Transition" to what precisely?

Why Jan, "democracy and freedom".

Naturally.

Thank God for the international community I say.
The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.
