Essay Question
#1
January 2010 House/Senate TV Dream Legislation Contest Essay Question

Compare and contrast, and explore the links and spectrum between,

anthropomorphism, exceptionalism, warfare and genocide.

Discuss their relationship to ecological issues, corporatism, land use policy, privatization, and foreign policy.

Provide examples of the benefits of, as well as the harm and detriments of, anthropomorphism, exceptionalism and warfare.

Craft a policy statement that will direct further development by think tanks, political parties, and Internet discussion boards.

Winning entries* (it is possible that there will be more than one) will be submitted to the RAND Institute and DARPA for their consideration for further research and funding.

Final decisions will be based on a preponderance of quality argumentation (subject to input from the moderators and administrators, the rules in fine print, various corporate lawyers, signing statements, SCOTUS review, ecclesiastical input, clerical authority and signs from God.)

Being suspicious I thought it was a trick question :burnout:
"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

Not a trick question, nope. A loaded question, perhaps.... The question of the new millennium for those who have some say on the future direction of humanity as it sits on the brink of God knows whatever.

The question was fashioned as an aside based on another discussion board commentary.

In the interim, I am halfway through Frederick Franck's book What Matters: Spiritual Nourishment for Head and Heart, (Skylight Paths Publishing, 2004).

http://www.frederickfranck.com/

The book speaks of the meaning of being born human (to become human), of an in-group's tendency to indulge in self-righteousness and megalomania. "Especially in the Abrahamanic traditions it has, through the ages, caused endless persecutions, witchhunts, inquisitions, and massacres.... to the collective ingroup ego, scripture is merely printed matter, all too often seditious printed matter, indispensable justification for hatred, intolerance, torture, pogrom, massacre. The centuries are there to prove it."

Perhaps entries in the context will remain open indefinitely....
