Might some of you be overthinking this a little? Reasons to kill JFK seem clear enough to me. He was so far off the reservation the "national security state" (or fill in your favorite noun) had no choice: Anti-colonial foreign policy, anti war, class-war behaviour toward business, (Steel, FED, Oil, etc.) civil rights, medicare, education, space, rivalry toward Pentagon and intelligence comm, the concept of DEMOCRACY itself, and on and on. 1964 was a slam dunk and RFK would surely follow for ANOTHER 8 years. Possibly with JFK as Sec. of State. Not acceptable. (Remember, neither the punditocracy, intelligence community nor the political elites anticipated that he would win! And because he came from wealth, probably had no idea he might be as radical as he turned out.)
Why not do it more quietly, make him sick, stage an accident or whatever? To send a message to ALL OF US and all future Presidents. (All politicians, actually): "You're not in charge, WE are. Fuck with us, you die. Challenge in a serious way the power, prerogatives, wealth, not to mention EXISTENCE of the actual power elite, and you're done. End of story. And there's nothing you can do about it."
(You know the corporate definition of the ideal citizen's life? Consume. Shut up. Die.)
P.S. All you guys complaining about the passivity and apathy of the American people have you not heard of Bernie Sanders? When's the last time you heard of a Presidential candidate winning a mass following calling for a POLITICAL REVOLUTION?
FEEL THE BERN!
