There is also this report; Lcdr. Georges E. "Frenchy" LeBlanc in A-4C 149613 sheared off his nose gear while landing. Aircraft skidded off the angled deck and flipped. LeBlanc escaped and was picked up by helo having suffered lacerations and a broken leg.
Could the story I'm getting be true, and at onetime, his plane was shot-down, there's no record of him being captured in Cuba. Here is a list off what ships had some of the early A4-Skyhawks and where they were stationed, does anyone see the U.S.S. Essex anywhere? Or. am I over looking it?
