As for the Massachusetts election, being a resident, I can say that the temperament and turnout for Brown was palpable and visible. The polls in a nearby upscale bellwether community were packed enough so as to create traffic jams for commuters. I read the Mitteldorf article and think he has it well-pegged in terms of Coakley's activity and incompetence in campaigning; it lacked energy, though it packed tons of commercials onto the airwaves. She took the race for granted as a Democrat in Kennedy-land. And, like a lot of Democrats, she totally misread the mood of the people. Or, as inferred, the Dems put the engine in neutral as they near the finish line. I look forward to listening to the radio bit with Lance DeHaven-Smith, having read his work on SCAD's.
