To put this long lasting conflict into perspective, some history as I observed it.
First, the current outburst stems from an article written by Warren Stutt, a computer programmer and Dr. Frank Legge, a chemist. See http://journalof911studies.com/volume/20...ter_92.pdf
In this article it is reported that Warren Stutt has managed to decode the raw FDR file that was released by the NTSB under FOIA. He also claims to have decoded additional data which were not decoded previously, covering the last seconds of the flight.
See http://www.warrenstutt.com/
I personally know that Warren Stutt tried to decode the FDR file for several years now and I tried to support him by providing documents detailing the envcoding of the file.
The issue with the last seconds of data is that the recorded checksum for these data is incorrect, which is the reason that the official ROSE decoding program ignores these data. An incorrect checksum can mean several things, it could be that the beginning destruction at the crash prevented correct checksum calculation or recording, but it could also mean that the recorded data have been manipulated or incorrectly recorded.
Of course the authenticity issues of the FDR data remain, and there are also issues with the recorded data, which are mentioned in the article at pilotsfor911truth, so the newly decoded data points do not prove positively that AA77 did hit the Pentagon.

The most relevant literature regarding what happened since September 11, 2001 is George Orwell's "1984".
