Tosh - thank you for posting the piece. Hopefully one of the purposes of this forum is to use the range of knowledge and different specialities of its members to get a better understanding of what the deep political structures are really up to.
Tosh and Peter - I agree with both your comments.
However, I doubt we'll get a straight answer from any of our politicians.
Essentially because Treasury notes (of all governments) are currently a global game of Bluff. What little real value they possess can best be seized by the person/state who tries to sell them first.
The first seller will get some return on their investment. The last seller will end up with toxic paper whose only use will be as post-it notes.
Or something far more basic...
I'm sure that geopolitical steps, and probably geopolitical threats, are being put in place to deter China from being first out of the door.
It's not entirely implausible that these even include the promise of "Eminent Domain". However if, as we suspect, Hal Turner is the source for that original piece, I want another source to provide some corroboration...
