Dan Marvin claimed that the result of the lawsuit prosecuted against him by members of his "A" team was a glorious victory over the Special Forces Association, the Pentagon and the CIA. In fact, LTC Marvin's countersuit was thrown out along with the plaintiffs' (as Phil pointed out); it was a "no fault" verdict. In time, LTC Marvin toned down his rhetoric and stopped lumping in the Pentagon and the CIA. His only adversary -- apart from the members of his "A" team -- was the Special Forces Association, who paid the plaintiffs' expenses. In my opinion, the plaintiffs' lawyers took a much too casual approach. They thought an easy victory was coming down the pike, not bargaining for the jury seeing no problem in the plaintiffs being labelled as "heroes" when they felt they had done nothing to deserve that accolade.
As for LTC Marvin's 2002 comments on the Pitzer matter, most of them have since been addressed and the bottom line -- in my opinion -- is that there is no evidence of homicide:
