It is true that Dennis David thought that Bill Pitzer was left-handed, because Pitzer dealt cards by skimming them off the top of the pack with the thumb of his left hand. It was something of a parlor trick. In fact Dennis told me that his father used to do the same, and he wasn't left-handed either. If you do a little digging, you'll find that Harry Livingstone and Dan Marvin were both told by Mrs. Pitzer that her husband was right-handed.

Sensing what is close to or at a stalemate, I offer this for possible consideration:

Could it be that Bill Pitzer was very good at thinking backwards?
