I think its very possible that Maddow believes the Warren consensus whole-heartedly and is not even being especially cynical. (Establishment media players tend to be very credulous folks, especially the newer crop.) Under this hypothesis, the thought of looking into the case wouldn't even occur to her because she's been brainwashed to think that any facts--no matter how solid or reasonably presented--that point towards a conspiracy is just jibberish beyond the pale of reasonable discourse. They don't even register. When it comes to anything CT related these types take Hofstader's essay "The Paranoid Style of American Politics" as gospel. To them, the %80 who believe in conspiracy are rubes or neurotics losing their status. You've all read the thing.
Educating just one, like say, Hayes, that really young kid on MSNBC, would go along away. But its almost like if you've made it to the establishment its because you have no curiosity for deep politics. I don't think it was always that way in journalism.
