Jay was very important to the research community. I admired his work and supported him where possible including sponsoring a press conference at the museum to announce the fingerprint match. My reference to him was not intended to caste any stones at him. He did tremendous research but tended to avoid personal interviews. I believe personal and confrontational interviews are very important to any investigation.
As to Pegues' death, Jay referred to Pegues' discussion with BSE about a certain lady. In my many discussions with BSE, he would at times threaten me with bodily harm especially when he was off his medication. I do believe that he was capable of taking another person's life. However, I discussed the lady with him on several occasions and these threats were never related to her. I also discussed the death with BSE and did not see any reaction, which would indicate his responsibility for it.
As I stated earlier, I have the final copy of Peques' writing. Quite honestly, very few publishers would have been interested in the book as it was filled with cuss words and bad language.
