Peter, this whole thing has been around for literally decades.
Way back in the seventies, in his book Spooks, Jim Hougan wrote about a taping done for Hoffa by wizard Bernie Spindel. These were supposed to be of MM and RFK.
Well, Spindel tried to use these as collateral when he was drawn up on charges in New York. The authorities gave him every opportunity to produce the tapes.
He did not. I got a hold of the report on this, which I think is called the Carroll Report.
Now, there is no doubt that if anyone could have done this assignment for the mob, Spindel could. The guy was so good, RFK wanted to hire him. But instead he worked for Hoffa against RFK. But the guy was really one of the best. So, if he could not do it, then who could? I mean, how many people hated the Kennedys more than Hoffa? And how many surveillance guys were as good as Spindel?
