Explosion and Flash before Shots Fired

I would like to see evidence - witness recounting- of such an occurrence. Tons of reports of gun shots heard or what some called back firing sounds but I have never seen a single report of anyone hearing an explosion or a flash.

IMO it's largely a semantic argument. The timing is still the "firecracker" report any way you look at it, and referred to as such in the paper.

I agree semantics. A firecracker or firecrackers, a cannon salute, a back fire, a bomb, or a muzzle blast, can all be termed explosions but none sound similar. Most described a firecracker/firecrackers, or a back fire. Vey different from a terrifying roar, a cannon, or a big bomb.
