I've had several conversations in the past couple of years with a man who was in US Military Intelligence for over 25 years, including service in both Iraq Wars. On his return from Gulf War II, he started being used as an interviewee with the "military perspective" on MSM, particularly Fox, CNN and CNBC.
When the reality of Abu Ghraib broke, this man felt compelled to condemn what was revealed, state that the attempt to place the blame on "a few bad apples" was completely wrong, and that the real blame went from Pappas all the way up to Rumsfeld.
Suddenly, he no longer got any calls from Fox or CNN or CNBC. The Pentagon had effectively de-listed him.
I've also seen attempts to discredit the man's military background and his expertise.
He left the reserervation and suddenly there was a bounty on his head.
A tediously familiar narrative....
