And the Vatican Bank, the IOR, laundered millions of dollars worth of gold and other loot plundered by Anton Pavelic's Croatian Ustashi during WWII, and alarmed that this was going to come out into the open due to a Californian class action lawsuit back in 1999, lodged a diplomatic protest note with the US government to intervene in the lawsuit and nullify it under diplomatic immunity. Which is what happened.
