James Petras describes a conspiracy... which makes sense and perhaps can be considered as a deep political analysis, but does not include the CD conspiracy to destroy the world trade center.
There has been some discussion that the LIHOP.. let it (9/11) happen on purpose is a *limited hang out* and provides cover for the murderers of 3,000 people... although allowing murder would seem to make someone an accomplice.
However there was absolutely no accountability relating to causing the event of allowing it to happen.

This conspiracy names names... essentially the same actors of the coup or their replacements 40 years later. The official investigation offered to same sort of cover and failed to hold the CIA and the Pentagon, the think tanks and the right wing who were looking for the needed excuse to begin wars as what happened in JFK.
CIA seems to be a player in both events.

The Petras thesis that FDR let Pearl Harbor Happen, but was FDR really in charge of American Foreign and Defense Policy ? Stimson, Skull & Bones, was Decretay of War, and Knox, Landon's 1936 running mate was his Secretary of the Navy. Was the 'top brass', of the US Military establishment, such as MacAuthur, Kimmel,et al, pro FDR, or were they ulta right wing who served Wall Street & Mammon ? George Morgenstern, of the editorial board of Col.. Robert McCormick's Chicago Tribune, a Roosevelt hating newpaper, was among the first to accuse FDR of pre Pearl Harbor attack knowledge. Has the Tribune, editorially, ever been right about anything. Morgerstern's book was published by Regnery, an ulta right publisher. Was FDR told of the impending attack by his intelligence agency heads, who were for the most part, ultra right Republicans, if not out & out fascists. Maybe the attempted anti FDR,coup, financed by the DuPonts, & others had something to with Roosevelt appointing GOP'ers to his post 1940 cabinet. Mr Sutton writing in " Wall Street & FDR ", wrote that FDR needed GOP supprt for his pre-Pearl Harbor war efforts, by this reasoning FDR needed to woo Wall Street Republican in order to get Midwest, and other GOP Congressmen support for the coming war. Isolationist GOP'ers would never support Roosevelt's policies, especially concering war. IMO it is more likely that Wall Street, after the attempted coup, told FDR support OUR policies or we will get rid of you, anyway that we can. Remember the failed assassination attempt before he was President, that did kill Chicago Mayor Anton Cermak, maybe the "they", that really run the country were hoping for a "2 for back" in 1933.
"Skull & Bones" skulldugery goes back to Prescott Bush,via The Union Banking Corp., Harriman, a long time bussiness partner of Bush, at Yalta and as under Secretary of State, during JFK reign, and McGeorge Bundy, and Bushes 41&43. If 9-11 was an inside job, Bush43 was an likely planner, but evil just the same.

The US *democracy* has a rather silly two party system...but in POTUS becomes the president of the entire nation and seems to feel obligated to listen to the opposition as he makes policy. Or so they say or seem to appear to do, by appointments and so forth.
I am not familiar with the history of the time but it wouldn't surprise me that there was a mixed feeling about pumping the economy with war and being isolationist... and not getting involved well outside the hemisphere. An attack on the US would change the calculus.
Was FDR caught off guard? Did the generals open the way for the attack and the entrance into the war? One thing is clear though... once attacked the people were all for war.
So to draw a comparison between Pearl Harbor and 9/11 as the new Pearl Harbor, the LIHOP thesis seems to match the MO more than a staged false flag. And if it was basically a LIHOP than it's unlikely that the destruction of the towers were controlled demolitions.. unless it was believed that 4 hijacked planes hitting targets in the continental US was insufficient to inspire the population to get behind the policies for the New American Century. That's hard to know.
