Thanks, Tracy, good point about Stevenson. That's why I was being a little cagey. It may well be that Fritz was just following orders, but it is possible he may have been aware of what was going on.
I think a lot of people would have gladly donated to get DiEugenio next to McAdams at that debate. It would be well worth being given a copy of the video afterwards.
But getting back to Fritz, if you look at the murder of Oswald, its pretty clear that it is made possible by Fritz breaking containment. Without him sprinting outwards to the car, Ruby does not have that clear alley to kill Oswald.
The other thing about Fritz is he was the guy who either dispersed the shells found at the scene, or he told Studebaker to do so. The photographs in the WC do not betray their original positioning. This is a point I go after McAdams on in part 2.

That's one of the things I was referring to above: "his being mixed up with the M-C shell casing shuffle that day".

Good article, Jim. You do an excellent job criticizing the critics of the critics. The funniest thing on the McAdams site is his BS on the "Single Bullet Theory". He seems to think he can reference Boswell's diagram (from the Baltimore Sun-Times) showing a wound on the back of the neck (at least an inch above the shoulders and more or less in line with the Rydberg drawing) to discredit those critics who rely on the autopsy face sheet. I'd let it go as another case of "choose your own evidence", but he proceeds to post a picture of Kennedy's BACK in the crosshairs from Dale Myers work! Which is it, back or neck? Cognitive dissonance on the same damn web page.
Oh yes, I'm sure Fritz was involved in getting Oswald killed. That doesn't necessarily mean he was involved in the plot against JFK. This is similar to LNers "proving" that Oswald killed JFK because he allegedly killed Tippit.
I think there were MANY Dallas police who were roped into the cover-up of both JFK and the Oswald killing, who were not involved in the plot ahead of time. Protect the department, your career, your pension, the city's reputation, your life and family...the institutional pressure to go along with an official story is overwhelming.

Tracy, I wasn't implying he was part of the plot to kill JFK. All I was saying was that he was involved in enough dubious activities concerning the framing (and elimination) of Oswald as to question the level of his awareness and participation in it.
And, what you say could apply to many participants in the broader cover-up, not just the Dallas police department. Cover stories, institutional or bureaucratic pressure or inertia, compartmentalization, following of chain of command, etc., etc. We are familiar enough with this kind of thing, I think.

Judging from the amount of DPD cases under Alexander's prosecution which have since been overturned I'd say the JFK case was just standard operating proceedure. All sorts of rackets and cover ups were running there.
