Palmprint question
#1
Forgive my ignorance please....

A small detail nags at me. If the police or FBI took Oswald's finger/palm print from his body at the morgue, and it was THAT palm print that showed up on the rifle...what was it composed of? It couldn't have been the normal deposit of oils and whatever else a person would normally leave on something, so what was it? Did they transfer the ink itself from the card they used directly onto the gun or....what? Is there a photo of the gun with the palmprint on it? I'm assuming the palmprint wasn't ink, because then it's game over.

So how in heck does an inked palmprint get from a piece of paper onto a wooden stock of a rifle?

Forgive my ignorance as well, as I am not sure I totally comprehend the question in the post. But, my understanding is that the story told had the gun brought to the morgue for a Lee Oswald palm print application. That's the way I understood it to have occurred.

You're probably right. I think I confused two events - Finding the palmprint and the visit to the mortuary to lift prints from the dead Oswald (the mortuary person complained about having to clean up the ink from Oswald's hands).

Stupid mistake. Sorry for wasting time. ::facepalm::
