The media is ignoring this because they don't dare say he's lying. CIA/Gestapo has ordered them to ignore it lest some major source get a microphone in front of Veciana while he's still alive. Veciana would do history a favor by letting an assassination researcher get a video statement.

Yeah, that's the ticket. Veciana had a bullet put in his head after he told this to the HSCA because he mistook another man for Oswald.
