Leading German Journalist: CIA Media Pushing for World War

Udo Ulfkotte says all major media networks controlled by CIA

Udo Ulfkotte, a former editor of Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung, one of the largest newspapers in Germany, admits he worked for the CIA.

"I've been a journalist for about 25 years, and I've been educated to lie, to betray, and not to tell the truth to the public," Ulfkotte told Russia Today. "I was supported by the Central Intelligence Agency, the CIA. Why? Because I am pro-American." He decided to tell the truth about corporate media controlled by the financial class because he fears war in Europe.
"The German and American media tries to bring war to the people in Europe, to bring war to Russia. This is a point of no return, and I am going to stand up and say… it is not right what I have done in the past, to manipulate people, to make propaganda against Russia." Ulfkotte said most corporate media journalists in the United States and Europe are "so-called non-official cover," they work for an intelligence agency.
"I think it is especially the case with British journalists, because they have a much closer relationship. It is especially the case with Israeli journalists. Of course with French journalists. … It is the case for Australians, [with] journalists from New Zealand, from Taiwan, well, there is many countries," he said.

Operation Mockingbird

CIA subversion of the corporate media is well documented. Beginning in 1948, former Wall Street lawyer Frank Wisner, as the director of the Office of Special Projects (soon to become a division of the CIA), established Mockingbird, an operation designed to convert the corporate media into a propaganda vehicle for the financial elite. Wisner enlisted Philip Graham of The Washington Post to run the operation and recruit journalists, many who worked for military intelligence during the Second World War. "
By the early 1950s, Wisner owned' respected members of the New York Times, Newsweek, CBS and other communications vehicles," writes Deborah Davis in her book, Katharine the Great: Katharine Graham and the Washington Post. By 1953 the operation was run by CIA director Allen Dulles and held sway over virtually every large corporate news organization, including The New York Times, Time and Life magazines, and television news, particularly CBS News under the leadership of William Paley.
In addition to newspapers and television news networks, the CIA controlled Hollywood and movie production. "CIA files document additional cover arrangements with the following news gathering organizations, among others: the New York Herald Tribune, Saturday Evening Post, Scripps-Howard Newspapers, Hearst Newspapers, Associated Press, United Press International, the Mutual Broadcasting System, Reuters and The Miami Herald," Carl Bernstein, the renowned Watergate journalist, wrote in a Rolling Stone article in 1977.
Evidence the CIA's propaganda network, its "mighty Wurlitzer," as Wisner called it, existed well into the 1970s was revealed by the Church Committee. "The CIA currently maintains a network of several hundred foreign individuals around the world who provide intelligence for the CIA and at times attempt to influence opinion through the use of covert propaganda.
These individuals provide the CIA with direct access to a large number of newspapers and periodicals, scores of press services and news agencies, radio and television stations, commercial book publishers, and other foreign media outlets," a report from the committee to Congress stated in 1976.
As Alex Constantine documents, Mockingbird is still operational today under a variety of guises. One of its major progenitors, Richard Mellon Scaife, recently passed away.

CIA Media Pushing for Catastrophic War with Russia

Udo Ulfkotte came forward because he is afraid of a war between the United States, Europe and Russia. "The German and American media tries to bring war to the people in Europe, to bring war to Russia," he told RT.
"This is a point of no return, and I am going to stand up and say … it is not right what I have done in the past, to manipulate people, to make propaganda against Russia, and it is not right what my colleagues do, and have done in the past, because they are bribed to betray the people not only in Germany, all over Europe. … I am very fearful of a new war in Europe, and I don't like to have this situation again, because war is never coming from itself, there is always people who push for war, and this is not only politicians, it is journalists too. … We have betrayed our readers, just to push for war. … I don't want this anymore; I'm fed up with this propaganda. We live in a banana republic, and not in a democratic country where we have press freedom."
For the ruling elite, the financial oligarchy in control of the United States, war is a customized tool for centralizing and maintaining power and establishing a world monetary order. Blinded by hubris and arrogance, the elite believe a war with Russia will check that nation's geopolitical aspirations, which it perceives as a threat, as it does the aspirations of China. Checking and challenging Russia is what the war in Ukraine that has of late fallen from the headlines is all about. Russia knows the score and is now preparing for the inevitable thermonuclear war.
Unthinkable a mere two or three years ago, Russia is now considering a large scale revamp of its military posture and a possible first strike against NATO and the U.S "In my view, our primary enemy is the U.S. and the North Atlantic bloc," General Yury Yakubov, a senior Russian Defense Ministry official, said last month. Y
akubov said Russia has merged its Air and Space Defense Forces with its land, sea and air based nuclear forces. "In addition, it is necessary to hash out the conditions under which Russia could carry out a preemptive strike with the Russian Strategic Rocket Forces," he said.

The shadow is a moral problem that challenges the whole ego-personality, for no one can become conscious of the shadow without considerable moral effort. To become conscious of it involves recognizing the dark aspects of the personality as present and real. This act is the essential condition for any kind of self-knowledge.

Wonderful. I hope more people in the media also follow in his footsteps. Considering the CIA has always admitted as much I don't know why any one believes a thing the media says.

I hope his health remains good. This is a big admission. I have never been able to find a source for that quote attributed to Colby.

Somewhere a few years back I remember seeing the source of the Colby quote [and it seemed legitimate], but I forget to who and where he stated this. It would be true even if he didn't say it - but I think he very likely did. It was said in confidence to someone - and not publicly stated, of course. The secret government's hubris is such that they even brag about their control over 'hearts and minds'. Of course, the CIA is only a tool of control for the real powers that be - not the heart of the Beast - but heading in that direction........::darthvader::

There is also the Washington Post, for one, and the MSM all work much the same way:
Quote:After Graham committed suicide, and his widow Katherine assumed the role of publisher, she continued her husband's policies of supporting the efforts of the intelligence community in advancing the foreign policy and economic agenda of the nation's ruling elites. In a retrospective column written after her own death last year, FAIR analyst Norman Solomon wrote, "Her newspaper mainly functioned as a helpmate to the war-makers in the White House, State Department and Pentagon." It accomplished this function (and continues to do so) using all the classic propaganda techniques of evasion, confusion, misdirection, targeted emphasis, disinformation, secrecy, omission of important facts, and selective leaks.
Graham herself rationalized this policy in a speech she gave at CIA headquarters in 1988. "We live in a dirty and dangerous world," she said. "There are some things the general public does not need to know and shouldn't. I believe democracy flourishes when the government can take legitimate steps to keep its secrets and when the press can decide whether to print what it knows."

The Colby quote first appeared in Dave McGowan's book Derailing Democracy, published some years after Colby's death. There are some questions over its veracity. McGowan, however, asserts it is true and says Colby stated it to Meria Heller who hosted "Speaking Power to Power" apparently -although the link for that interview doesn't work, so who knows really. Source HERE.

Also it is the same M.O. for all the foreign countries. They pay key people in unions, politics, military, civil administration, academia etc to work for them and so they have a ready made network in place when they execute their coups.

Good point. It's not just the so-called fourth estate and it is not limited to the US.

Maybe one way to look at this is that once a network of compromised persons is in place the coup has effectively taken place, which could be labeled a soft coup. The soft coup can prepare the way for the military replacement of a government if the soft coup is decided to be not sufficient.

I think John Perkins' Confessions of an Economic Hitman is a great place to start on this topic. i know some people here don't like it.

So the best way to get a paying job in a key position is to be blackmail-able?
