Charles always said the higher ups at CIA were literary. So were the higher ups in Hollywood. I think somebody leaked something to someone at Hollywood. The double was named "Lee".

I also vaguely remember Charles saying that JFK was selected before his election for this role -- hence, the emergence of "Camelot" seemingly from nowhere.

I don't know that it came out of nowhere. JFK and JBK used to sing the songs from the stage play which was enormously popular during his presidency and it was JBK that talked of the symbology to journalists. Seemed quite deliberate on her part.
