I am about 3/4 of the way through Talbot's book.
And it keeps getting better.
The sections on Dulles vs Kennedy are first rate. He really came up with a lot of new stuff that is really important.
To give you one example--JFK was so pissed off about what the CIA had done to him during Bay of Pigs, and their attempt to overthrow DeGaulle, that he not just fired Dulles, Bissell and Cabell. He also had a RIF, which by some estimates went way beyond what Carter did. Some say that he retired something like 20 per cent of the Company operators.
Kennedy then gave Schlesinger the job of, get this, redesigning and renaming the Agency. Schlesinger spent weeks on this and collected all sorts of data. He was actually going to call it the National Intelligence Association. Which Kennedy actually liked.
The sections on Lumumba, and the coup attempt against DeGaulle by OAS in 1961 are first rate stuff.
And I just finished the part about Dulles in 1963, setting up his own shadow government. Which included meeting with a Cuban exile assassin and supplying him all sorts of money in order to finance an independent invasion of Cuba.

I'll second that motion!
"Let me issue and control a nation's money and I care not who writes the laws. - Mayer Rothschild
"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience! People are obedient in the face of poverty, starvation, stupidity, war, and cruelty. Our problem is that grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem!" - Howard Zinn
"If there is no struggle there is no progress. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and never will" - Frederick Douglass

Martin Hay demolished this in his review of Willens cover up book.
Talbot also takes it apart convincingly near the end of the book.
I don't even go to JFK Facts anymore since its not facts, its certain people's agendas, and these agendas then get argued about with people like Paul May under an alias.

I had never heard of this before and it took me by surprise. I also saw the related document on history matters and Morley stating that he agreed with Shenon about FRK and Dulles and i did not know what to believe.

If Morley SAID he agrees with Shenon then I don't trust him a bit, and that would explain a lot about his site. (Actually I think he says it ON his site, I clicked on a link yesterday and I think it was "JFK Facts" (Ha) where he posted those words. Wow, back to who is who in the JFK assassination community. (As in spooks). Sigh. It just never ends does it?

The history of this goes back to LBJ himself back in 1971.
He said this in his memoir.
People like Caro and Shenon picked up on it.
I think its pure baloney.
Number one, the idea that LBJ would consult with RFK on who to be on the WC, when in fact, they despised each other, makes no sense to me.
Second, after JFK fired Dulles, RFK called in Dean Rusk and asked him if the had any other member of the Dulles family on the payroll. Rush said that Eleanor Dulles, Allen's sister, worked the German desk at the State Department. Bobby said that he wanted her fired also because he did not want any member of the Dulles family around anymore.
So then, we are to believe that two years later, he wants Dulles on the WC, to investigate the murder of his brother, which Bob had doubts about almost immediately? Including suspicions of the CIA? When in fact, RFK had led the charge to have Dulles fired after the Taylor Commission report on the Bay of Pigs was submitted? During which RFK was Dulles' prime antagonist when he was on the stand, essentially calling him a liar. And then after, RFK brought Bob Lovett to the White House after reading the Bruce-Lovett report, in order for Lovett to tell JFK that this was a great opportunity for him to fire the guy.
Yeah sure.
