I haven't heard that yet, but it sounds like something that could be proposed by some politicians here. The Prezident is obviously an Islamophobe - as are many other here in power. A large portion of the populace is generally xenophobic, and this is fitting in well with that prejudice.......

Don't take most of this as gospel truth (or not propaganda)....but Zeman is certainly NOT a 'democrat' and is an Islamophobe and idiot.
PM Sobotka: terrorists use Czech Republic as transit country
Information from the intelligence services indicates that terrorists may beusing the Czech Republic as a transit country to get to other states, for instance to France, Prime Minister Bohuslav Sobotka said on Thursday.Terrorists are travelling through the Czech Republic to divert the attention of the French authorities, which consider it a safe country, hesaid. According to the French judiciary, one of the French jihadists, questioned after his return from Syria to France, testified that the alleged organiser of the Paris attacks, Abdelhamid Abaaoud, had ordered himto travel through Prague not to be disclosed.
Czech EU deputies: President Zeman distances himself from democratic values
By attending a rally organised by Bloc against Islam in Prague on Tuesday on the occasion of November 17, President MiloÅ¡ Zeman had distanced himself from democratic values, a group of five Czech EU deputies wrote in a letter addressed to the Czech head of state. The deputies, including Michaela Å ojdrová of the Christian Democratic Party and JaromÃr Å tÄ›tina for TOP 09, criticize the Czech president for supporting the initiative Block against Islam, which they call a fascist-style movement.President's spokesman Jiřà OvÄáÄek has rejected the criticism, arguing that the deputies are merely attempting to attract media's attention.
EU foreign policy coordinator Mogherini postpones her visit to Czech Republic
The Vice-President of the European Commission and EU's High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Federica Mogherini has postponed her visit to the Czech Republic, originally scheduled for Thursday. She was requested to change her plans by Czech Foreign Minister LubomÃr Zaorálek, who suffered a leg injury, the ministry's spokeswoman said on Thursday. Citing a highly-placed EU source Czech Radio's news station Radiožurnál said the real reason may have been president Zeman's controversial appearance at Albertov, when he voiced support fort hose opposing more immigrants coming to the country. Ms Mogherini was also set to meet with PM Bohuslav Sobotka, President MiloÅ¡ Zeman and Defence Minister Martin Stropnický.
Arab group planned attack on Prague sports arena, Lidové noviny writes
An Arab group planned a terrorist attack on the Sazka Arena (presently known as the O2 Arena) stadium in Prague during the ice hockey world championships in April and May 2004, the daily Lidové noviny wrote on Thursday, citing intelligence sources. "A group of Arabs wanted to fire an anti-tank missile into the building and cause panic, due to which people would be trampled to death," a source from the secret services who requested anonymity told the paper. A former intelligence officer who occupied a senior post at the time confirmed the information, the paper wrote. The spokesman for the BIS counter-intelligence service refused to comment on the information. However, the threat was mentioned in the BIS annual report for 2004.
Lidovky.cz: Weapons might have gone to terrorists via Czech Republic
Czech police arrested two men with French documents and a car full of weapons on the Czech-Slovak border in April, the news website Lidovky.cz reported on Wednesday, suggesting that the Czech Republic might have been a state via which weapons were transferred for use in the terrorist attacks in Paris. A police patrol stopped the car with weapons near the border crossing in Starý Hrozenkov, east Moravia. They detained two men, both French nationals. In June, the police proposed that criminal charges be filed against them. The police, the daily said, then reported the case to the Czech National Contact Point for Terrorism, which falls under the police organised crime squad. The squad's spokesman Pavel Hanták told Lidovky.cz that the suspects were caught transporting devalued expansion weapons bought in Slovakia. Such weapons are adjusted for shooting with blanks only. However, automatic rifles that can be easily adjusted to kill are also on sale in Slovakia, the website reported.

I heard some of the weapons came from Czech supplier...Might be better to stop the weapons sales rather than the refugees....

Czech Republic is a small country, but a BIG arms seller [large amount of GDP]. Refugees don't make any money and since few care about them here....guess what will happen. Oh, and in case you don't know SEMTEX is made here too, and very interestingly even during the Cold War was sold to both sides....!

Prague cancels tourist tours of underground utility tunnels
ÄŒTK |
25 November 2015
The Prague tunnels measure a total of 90 kilometers.
Prague, Nov 24 (CTK) - Prague has cancelled tourist guided tours of the underground tunnels that carry utility networks mainly under the city centre citing security measures taken in connection with the recent terrorist attacks in Paris, Jana Janeckova, from Kolektory Praha, said yesterday.
"Based on the current security situation and with regard to an analysis of the current security risks, we have decided to close the tunnels to the public," Kolektory Praha board president Petr Hejma said.
Prague has joined other European capitals and introduced security measures in reaction to the Prais attacks that claimed 130 lives and injured dozens of people last week.
Within the measures, Prague has also cancelled the festive lighting of a Christmas tree in the Old Town Square in Prague centre that annually attracted thousands of people.
A majority of Prague politicians disagree with this. Mayor Adriana Krnacova (ANO) agreed with the measure heeding a police recommendation, though she herself considers it exaggerated.
The Prague tunnels measure a total of 90 kilometers. On Wednesday, firefighters will train the rescuing of a person who got stuck underground.
"The training is part of regular security prevention, but it is also connected with the current security situation after the terrorist attacks," Janeckova said.

Ah yes, xenophobia and hatred of the 'other' is alive an well here.....and this big demonstration is being called for just down the street from me. I'll be there as an anti-demonstrator and hope I won't be too hurt - these types love to beat up those who disagree. Sadly, the police largely agree with them - but lets see if the police will do their job.....
Prague to take part in Europe-wide Anti-Islam demonstrationsThe Dawn political party and the Bloc Against Islam say they will join aEurope-wide demonstration against so-called Islamization on February 6.Party members said the Prague demonstration would be organized inconnection with the German PEGIDA movement. Locations for demonstratorswould be reserved near Prague castle and also in the centre of the city, they added. Czech organisers said they would also help put togetherdemonstrations in Slovakia and Estonia.

This is the semi-official press agency report:
Quote:Demonstrations against immigration, the EU, and Islam took place in Pragueand the second city, Brno, on Saturday. The main demonstration in Pragueagainst Islam and the EU attracted around 500 supporters. In the earlyafternoon in Prague there was a clash between supporters and opponents ofimmigration around Malá Strana when stones and bottles were thrown. Policeintervened after a short delay. Police also said they detained one man whofired blanks with a gun. In Brno around 500 people demonstrated againstimmigration. The anti-Islam demonstration in Prague and Brno were part of aseries of organised in Europe and even Australia. Prague police had calledin reinforcements from the Ústà region ahead of the events. Someembassies have warned their citizens to stay away from the centre ofPrague.
However, the Prague protest took place centered two blocks from my place - and my dog and I walked around the city all day. There were hundreds of riot police and thousands of demonstrators - not 500! It was quite a zoo! CZE sadly by 'nature' has a xenophobic general populace, but this lot really are full of hate of 'the outsider' and have focused on an easy target - 'Muslim refugees', of which there are almost none here. They all passed through to Germany and other countries where they perceived, correctly, they would get a 'better' reception. Always wonderful to see the streets crawling with demonstrators, mostly in black with uneducated faces and tatoos of hate, black combat boots, et al.; and also riot police in black Ninja suits marching in lock step. I didn't see the clash of the two groups, but heard it and the shots that were apparently blanks....that is worrying. The pro-immigrant demonstrators also carried anti-capitalist signs and were a more colorful and intelligent looking lot.

'I'd vote Trump', says Czech president
Outspoken Czech President Milos Zeman announced Tuesday he is backing US Republican presidential hopeful Donald Trump, pitting himself against his country's prime minister who favours Democratic rival Hillary Clinton. "I'd vote for Donald Trump if I were a US citizen," Zeman said, quoted by the Dnes Czech daily. Branded a populist by his critics, the ex-communist leftist Zeman shares Trump's staunch anti-migrant stance and a fondness for Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Not that I've heard...but I'm sure the police and secret police keep a very close eye on them. So far there have been no incidents of anyone Muslim doing anything wrong other than parking in the wrong place. The idiot and very right-wing President is very much against immigrants of any kind and Muslim immigrants even more so. He also just loves Trump and is about to visit him in D.C. for some kind of love fest. A small group of neo-Nazis occasionally demonstrate to kick out all Muslims from the Czech Republic [there are so few one would hardly notice them at all]...but this group would also like to move out the Jews [also few in number, having been exterminated during the War], the Gypsies [ditto], and a lot of other small groups. They are ignored by most of society, but too many of the police are also members of these gangs cum political entities here.
That said, I wanted to update this STRONG xenophobia of the Czechs with this recent poll:
Poll: Most Czechs still reject refugees
ÄŒTK |
28 March 2017
Prague, March 27 (CTK) - Some 61 percent of Czechs reject the acceptance of refugees from the countries afflicted by war conflicts, which is 3 percent less than at the at end of last year, according to a poll conducted by the CVVM polling institute in February and released yesterday.
Some 32 percent are ready to only accept the migrants until they are able to return to their country of origin.
Only 3 percent believe that the Czech Republic should accept the refugees and let them settle here.
The readiness to accept migrants temporarily slightly increased along with the respondents' attained education and declared living standards.
"We also know from the previous polls that the Czech public expects foreigners to adapt themselves as much as possible to the habits of Czech culture," the CVVM said.
"Also, it considers them a certain security risk," it added.
Refugees were denoted as a security risk to the Czech Republic by 73 percent of Czechs, the same figure as Islamic state.
Some 41 percent of Czechs say the fighting in Ukraine between its military and pro-Russian separatists is a threat. [NOTE: Ukraine is very close to here and the greatest number of immigrants by far are Ukrainians who share much culturally and linguistically with Czechs]
Some 63 percent of Czechs, 4 percent more than at the end of last year, are interested in the situation of the refugees.
Interest in Islamic State was expressed by 57 percent of Czechs and by less than one-third in the conflict in Ukraine.
----------
Yes, very short memories, as a very large % of Czechs left the country after 1968 for other countries. Most, however, never returned and only come to visit now. Those who never left do not seem to have awareness of this even though they almost all have family or friends who sought refuge somewhere else....humans!
