Meet Allen Dulles: Fascist Spymaster
#31
Speaking of deleted scenes, I love the one in JFK where the Denver oilman visits Garrison and tries to bribe him with a federal court appointment in exchange for dropping his case. Very powerful; should have been left in. "Well, they've just offered you the carrot. You know what comes next!"

New podcast interview with David Talbot on Radio WhoWhatWhy:

“The most difficult subjects can be explained to the most slow-witted man if he has not formed any idea of them already; but the simplest thing cannot be made clear to the most intelligent man if he is firmly persuaded that he knows already, without a shadow of doubt, what is laid before him.”

Jon Voight.

Although politically, he and Dulles are not that far apart.

Joe McBride should chime in on this, since very few people know more about movies than he does.
Actually, Jon Voight can play a really good menacing dark brooding character. Not so against type and the politics fits like a glove. I'm sure he'd feel honoured to take the role.

Cate Blanchette playing the lead! A new world of PR! Female playing a male... Fictionized account of history. Many, many possibilities!

I vote for Kathy Bates as Dulles.
"All that is necessary for tyranny to succeed is for good men to do nothing." (unknown)

James Tracy: "There is sometimes an undue amount of paranoia among some conspiracy researchers that can contribute to flawed observations and analysis."

Gary Cornwell (Dept. Chief Counsel HSCA): "A fact merely marks the point at which we have agreed to let investigation cease."

Alan Ford: "Just because you believe it, that doesn't make it so."

If you read Talbot's interview in Mother Jones, his book is being read in Hollywood.

He suggested William Hurt.

I have never particularly liked Hurt, for the simple reason that I do not hunk he is a very skilled, imaginative, or inventive actor. He looks the part, but that is about it.

If he was still alive: Philip Seymour Hoffman.
