What is really sad, IMHO is to see the U S Intelligence State succeed in trying to redefine Latin American politics into non-white, Evangelical, gay people, etc. They are successfully doing this in the US and it will take a very smart person like Elizabeth Warren to call them out on this.

The only really significant political issue since at least the end of the Middle Ages is the distribution of wealth.

The US Intelligence Agencies gained the legal ability to purvey propaganda in the US in 2013 with the repeal of the Smith-Mundt Act.

So now, in collusion with the likes of Warren Buffett, Bill Gates, Goldman-Sachs and Silly-cone Valley, they are succeeding in convincing the really stupid American public that the most important issues are trans-gendered bathrooms and such.

Fundamental democratic politics, indeed any politics is rich vs poor. That is why we typically have Socialist vs Conservative Capitalist divisions in the area of political issues and parties.

But now we are being propagandized into thinking that politics is men vs. women, gays vs non-gays, brown vs. white, Evangelical vs. Main-line Christian, etc. etc.

All of this is just being done to frustrate those who see a real chance to move the US. toward the ultra-successful type of quasi-socialism found in Scandinavia.

Of the 12 wealthiest countries in Europe as defined by per-capita GDP, you will find all five of the Scandinavian countries if you include Iceland. Only maybe 10 of the states of the US are up to those standards. So we could do much better.

But we will go ABSOLUTELY NOWHERE as long as otherwise very smart people want to go down the rabbit hole of worry over gay rights, brown vs. white voting, obsession with Evangelicals (who don't really amount to much of an issue) and putting a huge focus on transgendered people who are only 1 out of 1000 and who really aren't as important as the National Security State (let's face it).

Identity politics is such a useful tool for TPTB. And so many naive fall for it. Land rights for gay whales now!
