Ted Shackley & Friends - Wheels Within Wheels - All Hidden.
#11
In 1972, Charles S. Whitehouse, father of current U.S. Senator Sheldon Whitehouse (D - Rhode Island), became Ambassador to Laos. His posting coincided with a precipitous decline in American aid to Hmong allies who had been fighting and dying in the proxy wars against the NVA and Pathet Lao.

Three years later, Whitehouse became Ambassador to Thailand. Eight months into that tour, Laos fell to the Communists.

Prior to the above-related service, Whitehouse had served as the State Department's Congo Desk officer.

In 1972 Whitehouse was sent to Vietnam in the capacity of Deputy Chief of Mission.

Ted Shackley was CIA station chief in Laos from 1966 -68, where he ran Hmong operations; he went on to serve as CIA station chief in Viet Nam.

From the "Historical Oddities" file: Ambassador Whitehouse officiated at the wedding of Tony Posephny and his Hmong bride.

Another demonstration that here on this Forum one is 'Hmong' cognoscenti! Confusedmokin:

I imagine if you looked into (beyond wikipedia if possible) Tony 'Po(e)' Posephny - you might find a closer match. A very interesting man.

Hey thanks Gary.Tony Poe,very interesting indeed. The stuff movies are made of.Somehow it seems that when legends are born they always have a firm hold of a good bottle of whiskey...........Why is that??????????????

Wow. I've never seen the young and old photos of him. Such a shame that he got old...

Thanks Bernice.

Thanks much Bernice. Yeah, two there I'd not seen either. As most know here, but for those who do not, his nickname was the 'Blond Ghost' within the Company and those he worked with - but I imagine not to his face. Amazing how much damage and death that one man brought to the world - all draped in the American flag and the Corporate interests behind it. We even have him to thank for Murdock's rise to Media Mogul - the least offensive of the horrible things I know of him doing. From there it goes to government overthrows [including U.S.], assassination, drug and arms running, mass-murder and genocide. He died a rich man - untouched by any legal problems. If there is a hell, I hope he's 'well-done' by now.....burning on the waterboarding table - or some Medieval torture devices. Confusedecruity:
