Possibility to download a thread?
#1
Does your software allow; and would you be amenable to setting it so we could be able to download [just not print out] an entire thread? I just wanted to and couldn't find the option I'm used to from other forums.

Yes, it is a learning process for all of us here too. Rolleyes

I will look into this further for you but you can email your self pages of threads from the Thread Tools box.
"The philosophers have only interpreted the world, in various ways. The point, however, is to change it." Karl Marx

"He would, wouldn't he?" Mandy Rice-Davies. When asked in court whether she knew that Lord Astor had denied having sex with her.

“I think it would be a good idea” Ghandi, when asked about Western Civilisation.

Click on "Thread Tools/Download This Thread" and you can save the thread as a txt file (with a really weird default name, but hey...).

This was an add on/hack BTW.

Thanks. It worked. Sometimes this kind of software offers a few file types - but txt will do, if no others are available.

That's very stoic of you to make do with txt. :p

What other kinds of file types do you feel are truly needed Peter?

pdf, html, and doc are the usual standards.....as they will allow any attachments, as well as preserve more of the formating and look of the pages from the Forum. Not being fussy....know it all takes work and appreciate that. No hurry...just put on the want list, for when you have nothing to do some snowy evening.

Ok it's on the list for the snowy evening.

There are now many threads I consider important enough to archive in my computer, but it seems only as .txt files is it possible. This eliminates any photos and much of the formatting. Does the software allow other options - even .doc with photos or .pdf with photos? Speaking of photos, I find it a tad frustrating that the photos can not be magnified and any mouse movement closes them [not just the x box]. Can that be changed. Photos are important.
Thanks.

"Civil disobedience is not our problem. Our problem is civil obedience! People are obedient in the face of poverty, starvation, stupidity, war, and cruelty. Our problem is that grand thieves are running the country. That's our problem!" - Howard Zinn
"If there is no struggle there is no progress. Power concedes nothing without a demand. It never did and never will" - Frederick Douglass

We'll look into that Peter.

On edit: Ok the priority if this issue has been elevated to High. We'll see what we can do.

Thanks.

They can be magnified. Just click on the thumbnail and it will be magnified. Then click on the magnification and it may magnify a second time. It will then have a little magnifying glass icon over the image, with a plus/minus sign. Please try it and see if it works for you.

What you're describing is odd. Any mouse movement should not close the photo. Has anyone else observed this behavior on their system?

No I haven't had this issue with the mouse movement. I can enlarge also. I get the magnifying glass and it clicks to enlarge and then there is the plus or minus signs to enlarge further. Is it a browser thing perhaps?
