You okay Susie?

Well, thank God you're back. As a regular visitor and infrequent poster I was lost and seriously considering signing up for macrame evening classes to fill the void.

Thanks to all concerned for your hard work in resuscitating the forum.

Myra, consider this please in the best sense of fellowship, congeniality and shared values.

But I think you've used too much lipstick.

PS, yes, you're absolutely right. Santa is coming.

Very soon. Smile

I wish to thank Peter Presland for all the work he done on behalf of DPF these past long eight days.
It was with pleasure that we have now make him an admin.
Something tells me that things are going to get a lot better around here.

I'd like to follow up on a fundamental point in Ed Jewett's post #9 above. It is dealt with in the group "We're back" statement but bears emphasis:

That point is about the site and it's contents being effectively held in trust for others - a sort of Commons Repository of discussion on the issues implied by its title. I agreed to become involved on that basis. The necessary documentation will be drawn up and actioned as soon as reasonably practicable. The technical steps are already well in hand.

It is intended that trust (or lack of it) in any individual will have no bearing on that individuals ability to do the sort of technical damage that was done by a previous administrator. To Hijack an entire server, database and domain name unilaterally and deceitfully, using trust to acquire the necessary technical credentials before altering them, is just about the grossest betrayal of trust imaginable in the world of internet services and communications. In my opinion, anyone shown to have behaved in such a fashion has forfeited any claim on such trust ever again.

DPF is a cooperative venture and - unlike in a recent case on another ostensibly serious forum, where over a thousand posts representing hundreds of hours work by one individual, were summarily deleted by vindictive admins - once passed any initial moderation, posts to DPF will remain so long as the site itself exists.
